Day 23: My Fave Season

"Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the Autumn tree."
- Emily Bronte

For me Autumn is the best season. It’s the season of Halloween, pumpkins and golden leaves that make piles on the ground and give the dying, green grass some colour. It’s the season of brown boots, knitted gloves and hats, and coffee. Its cold night walks leave you wrapped up in warm woolen jumpers. And on these cold nights you can curl up in front of the fire with a blanket and a hot chocolate. Really everything around you is dying and it should be horribly depressing, but instead it’s just beautiful; a mood board of oranges and yellows and browns. The leaves spread out across the streets like dust landing from a firework, like some synchronized dance routine that will take place again next year because it’s all going to be reborn again in the Spring. Everything about it is just warm and exciting because it’s like an alarm clock that tells you Winter is on its way and it will be Christmas soon. It’s not hot like Summer is and it’s not completely cold like Winter is, so it’s just in the middle.

Autumn summed up in a nutshell is when the warm air from home hits you after you’ve been out in the cold all day. I don’t know why but something about Autumn just has a homely feel to it and I’ve always been a family girl. So, maybe that’s why I like it so much. Let us know what your favourite season is and why.
