ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY | giveaway, reflection and the future

"You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction
you choose. You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll
decide where to go..."
- Dr. Seuss

WE FUCKING DID IT! We made it to our first blogiversary. Starting this blog changed my life in so many ways. I discovered myself because of this blog and I have met the most incredible people. So I'm going to take a short walk down memory lane and recap our first year.

You have been on a journey with me this past year. I started this blog anonymously to write personal stories about the dark time in my life. I told you about my miscarriage, my relationship with my mum and about my experience with self harming. You where with me when my mental health hit rock bottom. When I wanted nothing more than to end my life, to end the pain. And then you where with me when I came out the other side. When I decided to dedicate my life to this blog, to what makes me happy - turning my dream into a reality. You where there to witness me becoming unapologetically myself, and to start living life how I want to live it. Right now you're witnessing me opening myself up to the prospect of love. My content is my life, and we're starting each chapter together.

The day I created this blog, I could never have predicted the person I am right now. I had no idea how much this blog was going to shape the person I was destined to become. I have learnt more about myself in the last year than I have in my life leading up to it.

~ I discovered that I'm bisexual. That I will fall in love with a person's soul, not their gender. ~

~ I discovered that I'm a powerful, strong woman who is proud to be a feminist. ~

~ I discovered that I am, in fact, enough. ~

~ I discovered that my life is mine to write. And that I should never apologise for that. ~

~ I discovered that life is too short to surround myself with people who waste my time. ~

~ I discovered my happiness. True - rainbows and unicorns - happiness. ~

A huge part of who I am today is down to the people in my life. My family, my friends, and the incredible and inspiring bloggers I have met along the way. So I want to write a few thank you's.

As soon as I had the idea for Safe Haven; Anonymous Letters, I knew
that I had to tell you right away. You helped me start this blog, it means
more to me because of that. You're the light of my life, my inspiration
source, my best friend. Seeing you proud of me is what pushes me to carry
on. The person you're proud of today, is greatly shaped by you.
I love you in case I die babygirl - xo

I don't know where to start with you Joshy. You're my rock. I forget all
the time that we only met in 2015 because I can't remember my life
before you were in it. I can't explain to you how much it means to me
that you read and support my blog without me ever having to ask you
to. Every time I write a post that I'm proud of, or I accomplish a goal,
you're the first person I want to tell. You continue to make me a
better person, for that I will always love you. - xo

I honestly love you more than anyone on this earth. We have been
best friends and sisters since before I could walk, and you have walked
by my side and inspired me every day of my life. There is no person on earth
who could compete with the bond we share. You're everything I have
always, and will always aspire to be. Thank you from the bottom of
my heart for being proud of me, for supporting me, for teaching me,
for loving me. You're irreplaceable. - xo

I just want to say a quick thank you to you. I discovered you and your
blog a few months ago and you have played a huge part in my life since.
Your positive energy and sunshine soul inspired me more than you'll
ever know. Your happiness, confidence and fearlessness is infectious. - xo

I'd also like to thank some lovely bloggers for their continuing support;

"If I find 10,000 ways something won't
work, I haven't failed. I am not
discouraged, because every wrong attempt
is another step forward."
- Thomas Edison

This time next year I want to be able to write a post celebrating our two year blogiversary. I want to be able to say that I make money from what I love. I want to have finally released my e-book. I want to be able to say "I am happy. I love my life."
