16 Thank You's in 16 Day's | Day 2: to my role model, my auntie.

Dear Auntie Sue,

Panto's, day's out, Disney Land Paris - you made my childhood incredible. When I look back on my childhood, I am flooded with happy, unforgettable memories, all of which are thanks to you. As a child, you made me feel like the most special little girl in the world. Not because you bought me lovely gifts, but because you had no obligation to spend time with me, yet you chose to anyway. Now that I'm grown, I get to watch you be an amazing mum to Katie and Jessica. But I will forever cherish and hold on to the memories of when I was your first little girl.

I have called you my role model many times throughout my life, and that label still applies to this day. Growing up you seemed like wonder woman to me. You're smart, strong, kind, fun, ambitious, brave... I could continue but I'd run out of words to describe how incredible you are. I have always admired your work ethic and how together you have always seemed. You work, you're raising two exceptional girls, you're always the first to volunteer if a friend or a family member needs help - I honestly have no idea how you do it. You always have a smile on your face no matter what you're going through, which proves how incredibly strong you are. Thank you for being someone I can look up to and learn from. I don't think I'd be the person I am today without your positive influence. Thank you for being a perfect role model. I wish there was a way for me to repay you for everything you have done for me, but there isn't enough time in the world for that. If I could be half as good a role model to the girls as you are to me... well, I would be forever honoured.

You have been in my life from the moment I came into this world, to the young woman I am today. Through the highs and lows of my life, you were always there to give me advice or to simply listen. I am so lucky to have someone in my life who I can always trust and count on. Thank you for helping me through every part of my life, and witnessing every accomplishment. I love my mum, but she has never given me the support that a mum is supposed to give. But you have. You're my auntie, my friend, my confidant and my role model. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and for helping me become the strong, independent woman I am today.

All my love,

Hannah -xo
