Bloggers Uncensored: with The Neu Dad

Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my latest and favourite blog series that I've created. This series is an opportunity for you to hear your favourite bloggers' honest, uncensored, thoughts about real like topics. This weeks blogger is The Neu Dad.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm Mike, I'm a dad to an amazing two year old boy, a husband to a beautiful wife, and my job somehow manages to make "events" sound boring.

Why do you write?

I've always loved writing and telling stories, I trained as a journalist and blogging is the most constructive way for me to express myself.

Why did you start blogging?

I became a dad and wanted to share that journey.

What do you love about the blogging world/community?

I love finding out about other people who have been through incredibly similar and wildly different experiences to me.

What do you hate about the blogging world/community?

It seems to be awash with people who are desperately seeking a following without creating anything of substance.

In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?

The authentic ones who do it to share their stories.

What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?

You can prepare all you like, but life will still surprise you.
You can't always get what you want.
Some days will just be bad.

What does freedom mean to you?

It's something I take for granted, but the freedom to make choices that effect the lives of me and my family is probably the most important thing there is.

What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I think mental health literally affects everyone in different ways and to different extents, so the recent trend towards tackling those issues is one that I hope continues.

What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I'm not sure I fully understand feminism as it seems to come in so many forms, but I am a huge believer in equality.

What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?

It depends which society, but in the U.K. I really thought we were heading in the right direction with these things prior to the Brexit referendum. But who knows? I still believe we're a society that is predominantly inclusive and I hope that continues.

What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?

Talk to someone about it, and be honest. You'll probably find you're not alone.

What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?

Same as above - talk to someone! I really do believe a problem shared is a problem halved and in my naive opinion, people are generally good.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Ignorance.

What else do you feel strongly about?

Equality.
Education.
Fairness.
Chicken wings.
Cheese.
Wine.
Beer.
Football.

Let's end with some fun 'This or That' questions.

Love or money?

Love

Work hard or play hard?

Until recently it was definitely play hard but I must admit the dad in me has grown me up a bit.

Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?

Right side up

Chocolate or sex?

Well, I can get chocolate any time I like...

Plan everything or wing it?

Rough plan but wing it for sure.

Happiness or money?

If you can find a way of doing what makes you happy for a living, you can have both.

You can follow him on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
