Bloggers Uncensored: with Peanuts and Cacahuetes

Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my latest and favourite blog series that I've created. This series is an opportunity for you to hear your favourite bloggers' honest, uncensored, thoughts about real life topics. This weeks blogger is Peanuts and Cacahuetes.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Laura, I'm French but live in London (it's been 3 years already!). I love to challenge myself and try new activities. I also love to travel (this is also how I ended up studying in Germany and living in London a few years later). I'm also the creator and editor of the blog peanutsandcacahuetes.com, but blogging isn't my only hobby outside of work. I'm also a dance teacher!

Why do you write?

I write just because I like it. I find it fascinating to try to put words on your thoughts, emotions and ideas to be able to share them with others. I'm mostly writing about Lifestyle, food/recipes and travels. I think these subjects are the bests to connect with people but also a perfect way to create discussions between strangers.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I wanted to create a place where people could exchange ideas and opinions, learn new things about different subjects like food, lifestyle or travel and create discussions between them. My blog is still quite new, but it's developing well in this direction! Proud of my baby blog!

What do you love about the blogging world/community?

I was really surprised (and still am) by the support you can get from other bloggers. Everyone is ready to help, give you advice and engage with your content. It was unexpected, so it made it even better! I didn't know that the blogging community was so welcoming!

What do you hate about the blogging world/community?

I don't hate anything so far! (Maybe because I'm still new to the blogging community haha).

What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?

Life taught me that you have to work hard to get where you want and what you want. It also taught me that you can't trust everyone... I have this tendency of seeing only the good in people and let me tell you that I got screwed a few times because of it! Lesson learned!

What does freedom mean to you?

Being able to work from where I want, how I want, with who I want, be my own boss, live wherever I feel like and travel all the time! Still a loooong way to go before I reach this dream life though!

What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I think mental health has been underestimated too long by the society, but luckily people start to open up about it and consider it more seriously, which help a lot of people out there. Some people were feeling alone or didn't dare to ask for help. The fact that people talk about it more is creating a positive effect on these people who might find courage to reach out to someone who can help them. I have the feeling that it's changing for the good. Celebrities also start to talk openly about it, like Lili Rheinhard.

What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I think feminism is important nowadays, as it contributes the movement of bring back equality between men and women. Unfortunately, some people have the wrong idea about feminism. Feminism is not about defending that women are better, but it's about defending the idea that women should be as free to be themselves as men:
- Yes, women can wear what they want
- Yes, women can eat what they want
- Yes, women can have the same salary
- Yes, women can have leading positions
My hero for this subject is Emma Watson. I love the message that she spreads about it!

What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?

You said it yourself in the question: Love is Love... It doesn't matter what gender the lovers are. What matters is that they are in love. I feel like it's slowly getting more and more accepted in the society and some governments also take actions to make it easier for these lovers (homosexual marriage, adoption, etc.) Let's see how it will develop in the future!

What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?

I would just say: be brave, don't hesitate to ask for help and don't be ashamed (there is no reason to be)

What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?

I would advise to ask for help (here again). You don't have to be alone in this situation and believe it or not, there is a solution to get out of it. You haven't done anything wrong; the person bullying you is the one who is wrong here.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

The list is way too long... I would say wars, famine and diseases (I can't choose one only)

Let's end with some fun 'This or That' questions.

Love or money?

I have the love already, so money!

Work hard or play hard?

Work hard

Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?

Upside down to avoid any dust inside.

Chocolate or sex?

Both?!

Plan everything or wing it?

I'm a planner, but I love spontaneous decisions just as much! It depends on my mood.

Happiness or money?

I have the happiness already as well so money.
