BLOGMAS DAY 1: Intro & My Christmas Bucket List

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!! I'm excited as you can probably tell. Don't worry if you had no idea that I was taking part in Blogmas this year, because neither did I until about 15 minutes ago. The last time I took part in Blogmas was way back in 2015 and I swore I'd never do it again. It was incredibly time consuming and there was so much pressure around it to put out content every day. So what made me want to do it this year, you may be wondering? Well this year I finally know who I am as a blogger; I am comfortable in my writing style and I post for me now.

Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year, and I don't want to change that with schedules and obligations. So this year, my blogmas will be enjoyable and pressure-free. Of course I'm aiming to publish daily posts but as we all know, life sometimes get's in the way. One guarantee I can make though, is that there will be 25 posts published by Christmas day. I've decided to kick Blogmas off with my Christmas bucket list - I hope you enjoy reading it, and all of my posts to follow.

WRITE A LETTER TO SANTA

Yep, you read that right hun; I'm a grown ass woman and I still write a letter to Santa. I'm not ashamed of it either. One thing you may not know about me is that I'm big on keeping traditions going. Hence me always writing a letter to Santa. But if you think that I buy a stamp and mail a letter addressed to the North Pole at the age of 21, then you'd be absolutely right! I can feel the judgement in your eyes from here, but the way I see it, it's go big or go home right?!

PUT THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS UP

This should be a tradition for everyone; even the grinches! Decorating the tree is an important part of Christmas for me. It's something my mum and I do together, and if you're a regular reader then you'll know that happy memories like that with my mum are few and far between. It's something I look forward to every year, and this year is no different; in fact, I'm looking forward to it all the more this year since our relationship has been going from strength to strength.

HAVE A CHRISTMAS MOVIE MARATHON

My annual Christmas movie marathon is no joke and I don't like to be disturbed, so I turn all of my notifications off and I rarely get any phone calls because my family know better than to interrupt the legend that is Elf. I get my pj's on, get my snacks and hot chocolate ready, get under my blanket and press play. It's MAGIC!

DO SOME CHRISTMAS CRAFTS

I try to make Christmassy decorations every year but this year I want to go all out. Since I may not be able to do as many crafts as I'd like next year, I want to make the most of a somewhat steady hand this year. The first thing on my list to make are some paper snowflakes; which I've actually never made before...I know, that comes as a shock to me too. I then of course want to make some paper chains with my little cousins, we'll be making it a competition obviously. I'd also LOVE to try my hand at some homemade stocking fillers this year too. If you have any ideas for me, please leave them in the comment section below.

CHRISTMAS BAKING

It'd be a crime not to make some festive treats! My nan and I usually make peppermint creams and rum truffles, which are beautiful! But I'd love to make some cookies this year too.

VISIT THE CHRISTMAS MARKET

This is a more recent tradition, but a favourite one none the less. Amy and I head to town to do our Christmas shopping and visit the Christmas market for our annual hot chocolate and bailey's and piping hot pigs in blankets with stuffing. I have a feeling that, after the year we've had, this one will be extra special.

TAKE PART IN CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY

I may not work but you can bet your ass that I'll be taking part in this years Christmas Jumper Day regardless. I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing on that day yet but I do know that I'll be wearing the most festive jumper possible - flashing lights and all!

ENJOY A WINTER WALK TO SEE THE LIGHTS

My Nan and I have this thing where we pick a side each and we count how many houses we see with decorations up and see who wins at the end. Even though we don't actually win anything, we're always extremely competitive.

WRAPPING PRESENTS: MAKE A NIGHT OF IT!

I LOVE wrapping presents (especially neat boxes), and I always make a night out of it! I get my Christmas playlist on, and a few glasses of wine on the go. It's one of my favourite traditions of the season.

KISS UNDER THE MISTLETOE

Ah, the magical tradition I've only ever seen in movies. Well, this year I'm with the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, so hopefully this may be something I can finally cross off the bucket list. James is kind of a grinch when it comes to Christmas, but I doubt he'd say no to a kiss.

24 Sleeps to go!

Love, Han
