How To Blog Productively When You Have A Busy Lifestyle

Lifestyle and Blogging Blog

As a blogger, productivity is key.

If you don't post something regularly, your readers will lose interest and choose to spend time following your blogging competition. And especially if you are using your blog to make money, be that as a business or through advertising and affiliate links, you might suffer financial losses.

Therefore, you need to get your head in the game and do all you can to boost your productivity. This is difficult if you have a busy lifestyle, be that because of work or family needs, but there are things you can do to make life easier for yourself. The following are just a few examples.

#1: Remove distractions. Are you tempted by Facebook? Install a website blocker. Does the noise from your neighbour's dog get on your nerves? Work elsewhere, be that at the local library or a quiet cafe. Are you constantly checking your phone? Turn it off! No matter what the distraction, if there are ways to remove them, then do so. You won't get the work done otherwise, and if you only have limited time in the day, you really do need to focus your attention on what needs to be done.

#2: Schedule your posts. If your blogging platform has a Schedule Post feature, then use it. Most have a widget or desktop tool to make this happen. This way, you can write as many posts as you can in one sitting, and then automatically prep them to publish themselves at dates and times specified by you. This is especially useful if you don't have time to write in the week, but still want posts uploaded on a daily basis.

#3: Use blogging tools. Content may be king, but there is so much more to blogging than writing a post. You need to edit your posts, market your blog, work on your blog design, and more. Thankfully, there are tools available to cut down the time you spend on certain tasks so you can boost your productivity elsewhere. We have listed some of them here, so download and use anything that will make your life easier.

#4: Outsource when you need to. Even with the tools available to you, you might not have the time to do everything you need to do. And even those things that you do have time for, you might lack some of the necessary skills to do them effectively. This is where outsourcing is key. If you don't have time to write something regularly, consider hiring freelance writers, using sites such as Upwork or PeoplePerHour to find somebody suitable. You might also outsource to agencies for technical help, such as Fixed who offer WordPress support, and to marketing agencies to promote your blog on your behalf. There will be an expense, but if you are a) reliant on your blog for some of your finances, and b) struggling to make time to manage these aspects yourself, then you might consider the expense worth it.

#5: Prioritise your time. To stay on target with your blog posts, you need to make the time. This means finding available windows in your day, such as first thing in the morning, working when he kids are in school, and/or during the last thing at night before you go to bed. You should also eliminate or cut down anything in the week that might not be a priority, such as lunch with your friends, your daily visits to the Gym, or an evening in front of the television. Finding time isn't always easy, we know, but if blogging is important to you, then you need to schedule your week to fit in where you can.
